Khartoum - At least the airport did not flood

Thanks to the joy of flying on the cheapest ticket possible, we were able to land three times between Tanzania and Cairo. We only had to get out of the plane once, and it was nice to sleep and enjoy a hot shower in Addis Ababa for the night. Other highlights of landing and then taking off again include seeing Kilimanjaro from above and Khartoum, the closest we’ve ever been to a genocide. Thank you Ethiopian Airlines.

Early Morning in Doha

We didn’t intend to enter Doha, but when we arrived at the airport prepared for a night of fitful catnaps in the “Quiet Room”, we were offered a posh hotel room, dinner, and breakfast, as well as a 24-hour visa into the city. Who can say no? Doha is pretty quiet between 1AM and 6AM outside the well-lit shiny new airport. Did we mention this is yet another airport with free internet so we can post to the blog while waiting for our flight??

Off to some mimosas on the plane ride to Tanzania! We like Qatar Airways.
