Hi!
Wednesday, May 5th, 2004So this is blogging… Easy, really.
I have just returned from Ireland where I went to cover the biennial “Celtic Challenge” longboat race from Arkow to Aberystwyth.
At nearly 100 miles, this is the longest open boat rowing race in the world. 360 rowers, support crew and supporters descended on the town and gathered in the sailing club where they were told that the race had to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
The teams were gutted, but morale improved somewhat after a few jars of Guiness in Arklow’s biggest pub. It is now planned to hold the race next year.
More about this later.
