Don’t forget to contact your bank and credit card company to make them aware that you’ll be traveling out of the country. They might put a hold on your account if they see suspicious activity without explanation.

As far as what type of bag to pack in it’s up to you. We can leave things behind at the Hotel in Cuzco, so plan on bringing a smaller bag to hike the trail in. It will probably be most convenient to be able to carry all of our belongings on our back throughout the entire trip. So pack light!

I forgot to add a Kleenex packet to the list!

If you take the tube out of the middle of the toilet paper it can be flattened easier for packing.

Try to find shampoo/conditioner/body wash that is biodegradable. There are lots of different kinds, if I remember correctly I think Herbal Essence is. Just check the back of the bottle.

We don’t want to be ruining their water.

    Pocket knife!

I would also like to specify that when I said “no jeans!” I meant while we are hiking. I could care less what you wear around the cities.

I also recommend “Body Glide.” It looks like deodorant but is a kind of lubricant for rubbing on your feet and other areas that might chafe. If you put it on every day before hiking, it will help prevent blisters. You can buy it at sports stores.

    A small flashlight too…
