Yesterday I looked up flights to Japan.  I heard Kyoto is amazing so I’m trying to squeeze that into three days and a night.  We have off Monday May 4 and Tuesday May 5 but have to work on a Saturday (we’re having sports day).  I plan to head out after the festivities on Sat. and get back Tuesday night.

This will be my very first trip totally solo!!!  I’m so excited for the opportunity.  I was totally inspired to do it after I ended up exploring the Namsung Tower in Seoul yesterday.  It was pretty damn good.  I’ve been wanting to do that since I’ve been here and I finally said screw it and took a pricey cab ride across the river.

I LOVED Kyoto! Rent a bike! It’s the best way to zip around and see everything! There’s also a crepe place inside an old double-decker bus. I’ll look it up for you. Crepes crepes crepes. Mmmmm.

I’m a little nervous about finding a place to stay since apparently EVERYONE goes there for Children’s Day. Yikes! Bike it I shall! I’d better pack really really light! Where else did ya go in Japan? What do you recommend in Kyoto? Miss you guys!

gosh, i can’t believe it’s been almost 10 years since i went to japan. we’re getting to be fogeys. lemme think on it and email you back. i was in kyoto for 3 nights, but then took a train to shikoku and spent most of my vacay there since that’s where my host family lived. i’ll have to go through my photo book since all that’s popping out in my mind about kyoto right now is a giant golden temple and karaoke. lots of karaoke.
