The end of the World
I can´t go any further. I´m literally at the end of the World. My beloved continent ends here and the next place would be Antartica (which I would love to visit if I had US $5000!). It was not easy to come all the way to the south of South America, but it´s totally worth it. It´s cold, there is ice, snow, sea lions and I even went skiing 🙂
Ushuaia is the most southern city in the World. It was founded in 1882 when the government decided to open a prision, and the guards´ families were the first inhabitants. It´s located in a bay with same name as the city, that in indigenous Yaman language means ” Bay facing to the east”.
But why would you come to Ushuaia? Well it´s kinda cool to be where no more roads can take you, and besides that the scenery is absolutely stuning: frozen lakes, snowy forests, high peaks and the endless vastness of the Patagonian steppes.
Another highlight of this city of la Tierra del Fuego is the marine life. The Beagle Channel boarders Ushuaia and you can take a boat that takes you to see some pretty cool islands full of Sea Lions, Sea Bears and birds. If you come in the summer you can also see Penguins!!!
And of course as I said already, skiing in South America!!! Weird eh?? And apart from the skiing, the course is nearby a glacier that you can hike in thigh high snow, Wicked!!!
So as you can see there are many reasons to come to the end of the World. Basically it´s absolutely beautiful! 🙂
