La necrópolis

El cementerio de la recoleta is one of the poshest places to rest in the afterlife, just as Varanasi is one of the holiest on Earth. The size and magnificence of the graves is overwhelming and it looks more like an upperclass neighbourhood than a graveyard Read the rest of this entry »

Knock offs in China? Really? ;)

June 6th, 2007

China it´s the land of fake brands and cheap imitations. Why bother inventing a whole new brand when you can just change some letters and take advantage of people who can´t see well?
It´s a pitty I didn´t take pictures of all the things I saw, but at least I can share some of them with you.

I hope you laugh as much as I did 🙂

Crossing inmigration gave me a funny feeling. Was I or was I not in China? I mean the signs are still written in chinese, I´m boarding a chinese train, full of chinese of course, where the food I ate was defentely chinese. Am I being tricked? I though. The answer though, hit me in the face the second I put a foot on the ground: Hong Kong is defenetely not China! Read the rest of this entry »

Finally in Buenos Aires

May 30th, 2007

Hey you all, I just wanted to say that I made it to Argentina in one piece.
It took me 41.5 hours from my hotel in Hong Kong to my sister´s place in Buenos Aires, but now I´m here ready to start enjoying my own continent. It´s pretty weird to be able to speak to anyone I want and I still haven´t adapt to that.

Now it´s bed time, hopefully 16 hours straight….

BYE BYE ASIA

May 28th, 2007

Hi guys, I know you haven’t heard anything from Shanghai or Hong Kong yet (both absolutely amazing) but this is more important.

Tomorrow I’m leaving Asia. I’ve spend 7 month here and I have learned and enjoyed so much that’s it’s gonna be sad. On the other hand I’m heading to South America, my beloved continent so it’s also good :).

Tomorrow I’ll fly: Hong Kong – Kuala Lumpur – Johannesburg – Cape Town – Buenos Aires.

I’ll take me around 35 hours, 4 airports and many plastic meals.

wish me good luck and talk to you from the New World!!

besos

En la capital!!

May 25th, 2007

_MG_3686-1.jpg

Ah, the smell of the capital….

Beijing, with it’s 9 million bicicles around you, gave me a good time. I was a bit disappointed though. I was expecting a big mess, narrow streets, cat stew in the street sralls and lots of traffic, but no you don’t find anything of that in Beijing, its a big “clean” city, with modern buildings and very wide street and of course the AMAZING great wall of China… Read the rest of this entry »

One day, one quest: find that wall!!!!

May 20th, 2007

_MG_3315.jpg

I got to Datong at 05:00, after a “good” night sleep on a 60cm wide berth in a train. I had heard that Datong was famous for some old caves with giant Buddhas carved inside them and for having a piece of the great wall of China. What I didn’t know was that it was not an easy task to find it… Read the rest of this entry »
