What??? Join a timeshare island tribe in Fiji ???
This caught my attention today. Quote”
Memberships — Nomad ($220), Hunter ($440) and Warrior ($660) — entitle members to seven, 14 or 21 days on the palm-fringed 200-acre oasis, 100 at a time. Fees cover food, lodging and local airport transfer. ”
Really, sounds like an adventure for the extremely bored. I really like traveling to new places for the experience of the somewhat real world. This on the other hand sounds quite contrived. Its almost like a visiting Universal Studios but you are trying hard to brain wash yourself into believing, no – this is not stage managed. I am Really living the rough life. Really experiencing how life was when there was no technology around. Hmmn, how sad. Now, on second thoughts, this Fiji timeshare thing almost also sounds like glamorized social work! Building a community for the next visitors. “The first job for the tribe,” [co-founder Ben] Keene said, “is to build for those who come later,” …..What?!!! Why not build a house for the homeless guy that lives across the street? Huh, I guess thats not glamorous or exciting enough. You can’t crack jokes about it with friends at dinner table. Or have photos displayed all around your living room. Hmmmnn, okay. Whatever sails your boat.
The origional article was published in the LA times – Must read Highly entertaining for a Cynic like me. Timeshare to live with tribals ! Thanks but no thanks. I would prefer to go live in Andaman Nicobar islands with the real tribals, with no promoters and camera men hovering in helicopters, loaded with food and first AID.
