Continuing the adventure

November 9th, 2005

So I found a pretty good North-face knock-off backpack in the street markets in Bangkok. Not really sure how long it will last, but it’s definiteily better than what I have now – Cost + 1200 Baht (40CAD). Not too shabby! Read the rest of this entry »

A housewarming……

October 22nd, 2005

I decided to have a housewarming party for my sister and her husband at their new house in Blockhouse. Many friends and family came to help make their house a home! Even though Dad couldn’t comesince he was out on the boat again, mom and both of my sisters got to spend a ton of time together.

It was great to have family and friends so close and secretively I really liked the opportunity to get my relatives all together since our departure date is getting closer and it made it easier to catch up without trying to schedule “visiting hours”.

home for a rest?

October 14th, 2005

In our first week back home we made a quick day trip into Halifax to see Andre’s brother Marcel at his birthday party – equipped with a live band, steaks BBQing, a huge pot o’chilli,a keg of beer and a ton of people, I found myself wishing that we had decided to spend the night at his brother’s place – especially as I was the sober driver! AND we found out that there was a free cab service provided back into the city WHENEVER you wanted!!! AHHHHHHhhh! Read the rest of this entry »

…..no fixed address

October 4th, 2005

The last week of our stay in Vancouver came and went in a flash. Maybe it was a good thing as I didn’t have time to get too upset with all of the ‘goodbyes’ we made to all of our friends. It was just alot of packing and packing and packing which ended up in storage…..and we found ourselves frowning at the fact that that was it! This was all there was of us. Just a pile of boxes…….A bit depressing…… Read the rest of this entry »

trying to upload

August 23rd, 2005

So here I am hoping to get my hands on this new PDA we purchased a couple of months ago – a Siemens SX66. But with Andre its a little difficult to wrestle this thing away from him! Its like he thinks i’m going to change all of gthe settings ans screw it all up! Actuallyt it’s not like I’ m just imagining it, it absolutely true! He even says, “your not planning on changing the settings are you?”!!!

anyhow here I sit typing on the worlds smallest keybosrd to see how annoying this little thing could be if I have to type this on this device while we’re away. Besides my fingers cramping and not knowing how eAsy it will be to upload wheb using this devices ability to upload onto our blog, its not that bad. Please wxcuse thw typing errors that I refuse to go back and correct as my fingers seem extremely fat on this thing, and I fear that I may cramp up before I.complete this transaction.

Now that andre seems to have calmed down and almost seems to have forgotten that this neat and new little device isn’t in his hands these last few minutes, i’ve come to love it even more! But then again, iVm sure his distraction has something to do with his other addiction – the Discovery channel!

So now i’m going to save this word document onto the PDA and then connect to the internet and try to upload. Lets see how it goes, shall we?

2 months left to go!

August 8th, 2005

We finally gave our formal letters of resignation!!!! It is a huge weight lifted off our shoulders. We hated having to drag out the process especially since it had the ability to impact our collegues and work efficiency. It was SOOOOOO great to be able to share these exciting plans with our friends and draw on their abilities – web searchs for items like storage, insurance, etc. Just to have other people thinking about items we may have forgotten to put on the to-do list was a complete and utter relief! The news

August 5th, 2005

So as this whole planning started to really take shape and we realized that this was really going to happen, we kept asking ourselves “is this CRAZY?”……you have no idea how many times we said that to each other!! Read the rest of this entry »

Getting Started

August 3rd, 2005

Our trip planning was initiated a year ago in that bottle of wine and it got us thinking of all of those places we would like to see now, while we’re young enough for our hips not to be plagued by arthritis and so that we are quick enough to run away from any really BIG bugs! Since we have already travelled to Europe including Amsterdam, France, Italy, Greece and have most recently been to Rarotonga and New Zealand, we thought our next adventure should take us to Asia…..It started by planning a trip to China and then started to encompass so much more! The Beginning

July 25th, 2005

In 1997, Andre and I left Nova Scotia as fresh graduates of Dalhousie University in chemistry. Andre wanted to complete his chemical engineering degree and I wanted to start working in my field of study. We moved coast to coast in a 5 day driving spree of over 6500km from Blockhouse, Nova Scotia to Vancouver, British Columbia! The Morning
