Fancy a brew?

From Pulau Penang it’s my first steps on Malaysian terra-firma. 6 hours by bus is Tanah Rata in the Cameron Highlands. A cool and cloudy hill station (once again from colonial times), the peaks and valleys range from around 1500-2000m above sea level. It’s a welcome change in climate. There are some walks up the hills and through the jungles, and lots of tea plantations to visit.

Only the freshest tips...

Afternoon tea

The rest of the time is spent drinking copious amounts of tea (makes a change from water), and eating the home made cakes they laid out at the place we’re staying: a place called Father’s, where the beds are in old British Army nissen huts. Still should the Thai military coup spill over, they must make cracking air raid shelters!!

Oh and there’s even HP Sauce to go with your eggs at breakfast, all that’s missing is a nice G&T…

A mug of tea, eggs and brown sauce... if it weren't for the view this could have been some roadside caff
