Another long journey. It’s a leisurely stroll down to thebus station as the day warms up. A soldier stops me and asks me where I’m going, and where I’ve been. At the bus station the same porter that has seen me for the past two days pounces and I let me take my bag to the bus. You’ve got to give it to him for persistency… The bus journey is uneventful, but for some reason every hour or so of not moving, my knees go into acute agony… I end up chatting to another English guy, and as the bus arrives late into Dehra Dun, we both stay overnight there. The next day I go up to Mussoorie. It’s a little disappointing after Shimla, though pleasant to spend a day there. It’s just another hill station with little to do. It’s very hazy due to the heat on the plains below.
