Overcast skies and white sandy beaches…

But we are not complaining about it!!! We arrived in Bangkok safe and tired. We caught a train and a boat and we are now on the Island of Koh Tao. It is more beautiful than we expected. We are researching which place to do our dive certification class, and will tell you all about it once it starts. It is a hygienic shock to our system to be out of India.

Much Love

Hi Todd and Lisa (and a belated happy birthday to Lisa..I actually started writing this over a week ago and someone started using the computer and it got lost).

Well, your mom and Aunt Nancy were right…we were all together dividing up Oma’s paintings and they asked if I had seen your blog. I was skepticle about its appeal–never having seen ablog or written on a blog before–aside from the obvious fact that it was about you. I kept thinking of all the slides I had to see of everyone’s trips after they got home–some were great but most were not.

Anyway, your blog and pictures are amazing!!!!!!!Not only do your great pictures and on the spot entries capture so much of your experiences, but they are very funny and entertaining, and the responses are so much fun to read. I’m your latest convert.

Related to your India comments…Steve, Eric, Kira and I took a one month trip to India in 1985 (before Owen). Your descriptions brought back so much of that trip, Steve almost died of heat stroke in the Himalayean mountains on a 1 week trek. But one of the funniest experiences was when we were floating down the Ganges river in Varansai at 5 am witnessing all the cremations and human remains floating down the river. Literally, body parts went by, and the sights and smells were pretty intense..at which point Eric said to us, “Why can’t we just go to Disneyworld like the other families?” We had no answer. I don’t know where you learned your manners, but Kira and Eric ate with their fingers during our whole trip (Kira still eats Indian style). Enjoy your experiences…they really will last a life time. Much love, Aunt Susie

    Lisa and Todd!

Your pic’s brought back wonderful memories of Thailand. Since I’ve never been in India, I can only look forward to going there. I’ll go for the yoga and food aspects, but I think I’ll pass on the floating body parts! It seems amazing that you lived in Hawaii all that time and waited until Thailand to learn to dive. But you’ll be a life-long convert, it’s wonderful! I hope you’re enjoying the class. At least you are out of tsunami’s way being on the east side of the peninsula. The bungalow looks cozy and relaxing. You two sure know how to work hard!!
    Much love,
    Mom
