Got a job

Monday, November 13th, 2006

So after meeting a guy on a train who had a friend in Seattle that I am now helping remodel his house I began to find places to work in Seattle after the job is done.

It turns out that Seattle restaurants are like other places restaurants and they want you to go by their time and not the time that you would like to go on.  So after interviewing and then waiting for people to wake up and call me I found a cruise line that needed help.

I actually blew off the first interview since it sounded like the run of the mill seasonal hiring and I didn’t think that was worth going for.  But then they contacted me again and I ran off to the interview after work.

It turned out to be a good thing with a guy running it that used to live in Colorado and who actually cared about his people.  So I am now about to work three hour dinner cruises through the holidays and if it goes well then keep on going.

If anyone is reading this who I actually know how bout leaving a comment so I know your alive and kicking!

The 411 on Seattle’s 414 House

The 414 house in Seattle is as utterly and wholeheartedly indie rock as it gets. An extremely comfortable and low-key residence, no food, no beer (BYO Everything), plenty of couches, a disheveled living room and a lack of pretension makes the house a remarkable place to visit. Shows are all always free of charge though there is of course a large jar passed around. Acts from Paris, act from L.A., acts appealing to your most disgusting indie sensibilities headline; acts so obscure as to make your indie rock acquaintances swoon envy. Come for the wankish talk of postmodernism and globalisation, stay for the banjo and amazingly good noise rock.
