Back dated from yesterday afternoon

Sunny day out. Got a smoothie, a top for tonight (in black, of course), and stopped by to look at what may be the very last gym in the city. I’m joining one next Wednesday (payday), NO MATTER WHAT.

Pics from Taylor’s Mistake are up here.

3 new videos up on youtube (search jwdmeow). My fave is the storks. They greet each other like that any time one of them comes home to the nest.

OK – I realize I’m about a year behind in technology here, but I updated my internet explorer today, and went through and set up feeds for everything I could find (a couple of my webcomics don’t have it, but all the columnists and bloggers I read do). Awesome.

Also awesome; I was looking around to see if Neva Chonin had a new column going (I loved, loved, loved Live! Rude! Girl!) and I found her myspace page. Here: http://myspace.com/liverudegirl. Who she’d like to meet? “George Clooney and Stephen Colbert. Together. Naked.” This woman is awesome. (How American am I today? Awesome like a hot dog).

Why did the New York Times put all their columnists into select? That’s just mean.

I’m listening to “Time won’t let me go” by the Bravery. There’s something about the “ba ba ba ba” bit that makes me want to go watch How I Met your Mother.

Whoa. Neva Chonin reposted something from Cleolinda. Wow. Someone who actually writes well and is smart does it too! (Not surprisingly, really; Cleolinda is brilliant).

This (via Neva’s site) is totally brilliant. It has practically all my favorite Colbert moments; him busting up laughing during the Prince Charles/ Banana thing, his report on Olympic figure skating, skits from exit 57 (including, yes, the one with Paul Dinello in the basement), lots of endings from Strangers with candy, including “Carry on my wayward son”. Ahhhh! Awesome. And – it has a word on there I haven’t seen, “Sigh” I’m gonna go look on motherload. Oh – and why are Steve, Stephen and Jon half naked? Oh my god – this site still has Even Stephvens up! Yaaay! (Stupid Viacom). “Hey Stephen Colbert! Why don’t you come over some time this week and we can trade partners?” Oh! “Sigh” is under the word archives on comedy central. It’s the one he did after the dems took back congress. BRILLIANT.

Positive reviews of 3:10 to Yuma, shootem up, the assassination of Jesse James (no Sam mention) at AICN.

Really good Romance and Cigarettes review at NYTimes. Good – I’ve wanted to see it for ages.

It also gives the 3:10 to Yuma positive reviews, particularly Christian Bale’s acting (shocking, I know).

I’ve been going through the QC archives, and this one made me laugh out loud all over again.

Did you know Namibia is in the world cup? Seriously. (And Argentina beat France – yeah!)

Fave xkcd today: http://xkcd.com/233/

Ooh – another good one: http://xkcd.com/180/

OOH! Best yet – I think this pretty much sums up my approach to travel; http://xkcd.com/167/ “Hey! I found SQUIRRELS!!”

Musica; Between breaths (an XX perspective) – blaqk audio, Where would you like them left? – blaqk audio, Bad boyfriend (remix) – Garbage, Time won’t let me go – The Bravery, Red flags and long nights – She wants revenge, On the Bound – Fiona Apple, Zombie – Cranberries, Imaginary – Evanescence, Brass in Pocket – the Pretenders

Talk about skewed opinions! The NY Times didn’t give the 3:10 movie a great review. It said that Christian Bale was excellent, and what’s-his-Aussie face was pretty good, but that the original was subtler and much better all around….

    not exactle a rave…

“it must be said that Mr. Crowe and Mr. Bale both do excellent work.” I think when you are talking about one of the finest actors around doing excellent work, that’s more than enough of a reason to go see the film (example: dedication didn’t get very good reviews as a movie overall, but people said that it’s worth seeing to watch Billy Crudup’s performance). Additionally, it has an 83% fresh rating on rottentomatoes (86% from cream of the crop, incl. NY Times), and 3 glowing reviews on AICN.
I think all told that makes for good reviews. Even if the NYTimes didn’t rave, everyone else did.

All tolled, I think. Not all told. But I have to look it up.

really? I’ve always thought it was all told.

You’re right. Here’s the correct info. from the horse’s mouth (AKA Paul Brian)

Some people imagine that the expression should be “all tolled” as if items were being ticked off to the tolling of a bell, or involved the paying of a toll; but in fact this goes back to an old meaning of “tell”: “to count.” You could “tell over” your beads if you were counting them in a rosary. “All told” means “all counted.”
