Norway – Narvik (Post #24)

Hi friends! Michele here…. Today is Sunday, July 10th and we are 6 hours ahead of east coast time and 9 hours ahead of west coast time. We are quite a bit above the artic circle in a small mountain town in Norway.

We have been traveling a lot! The day after we went to Tallin, Estonia (July 5th – post #23), we took 2 trains, going from Helsinki, Finland to Vaasa, Finland. We stayed in this small town for two nights then on July 8th we took a 5 hour ferry across the gulf of Bathnia from Vaasa, Finland to Umeå, Sweden. We stayed in Umeå only one night – which was too bad because we got a dinner invitation while we were there from the currency exchange lady – before taking 2 trains (10 hours) from Umeå, Sweden to Narvik, Norway. The train, while very crowded, had some beautiful scenary towards the end. I have attached a couple of pictures from the train ride below.

Today we are taking a 3 hour ferry from Narvik to the Lofoton Islands (still in Norway). Most people from Norway and Sweden know about these islands because they are supposed to be incredibly beautiful. I will definitely be taking a lot of photos!

With few exceptions, the weather had been outstanding on our trip so far with no humidity and perfect sunny 65-70 degree days. (I had to brag about that!)

Well, like always we have limited time on the computer so we must go. I will upload and blog again when I can.

Hope everyone is doing well!

    Michelle,

Just took a look at your blog. It looks so so beautiful!!!!

My big trip in August is to the Outerbanks of North Carolina, which I’ve never been to. Scandanavia does look rather beautiful.
