May 22, 2005A Long Day In Madrid (Part III)
I'm back at the park after walking into a bookstore to ask to buy a pen. The clerk told me that he can't sell me a pen but he will give me one as a gift. I found a new spot because I was too embarassed from my snoring routine at the last one. Iam in a much better position to people watch from my new vantage point. When I look out over the park some habits of people in Madrid pop out at me. There are a lot of couples laying in the grass together which isn't suprising really. Europeans have the romance thing down. The strange part, to me atleast, is that there is an unusually large amount of women hanging out alone or in groups of 3 or 4. Rarely have I seen a large group mixed with guys and girls. To the left of me, scratch that, I just realized i'm at the center of a semi circle of couples cuddling and sharing eachothers company. About 20 feet in front of me a girl i writing just as I am. Although I don't think she has much to say about me. Over to my right and in the distance a group of kids are playing soccer in a cleared out area. After spanning the area around me I can count 6 groups of girls either alone or with a couple of friends. Maybe i'll come back here on my return trip after I've had a shower and a change of clothes. I honestly look homeless and unshaven. It is about time I leave the park and go find something to eat. I passed by a nice little cafe on the way so i'll probably check it out. No McDonalds this time.
