5/20 - A Long Day in Madrid (Part I)

This has been a tough day. I got absolutely no sleep last night so getting off the plane and not having a hotel to crash in was rather painful. I actually went to the hotel reservation desk and reserved a night stay at a place downtown. What a waste of 80 bucks that could have been. They didnt take down any info from me so I ended up coming to my senses whilst on my way through the metro and instead of searching for the hotel. I just began my hunt for the travel agent that had my ticket out of Madrid. The train leaves at 1120pm and it was only about 10am at this time. This meant no sleep until I boarded the train.

Unfortunately this same thing happened on my last trip to Europe and it took a few days to recover. This all ends up having a happy ending though, believe me.

After navigating the metro for a bit, getting off at the zrong stops and going around in circles. I ended up breaking one of the cardinal rules of travelling as an American. I ate McDonalds! Honestly, I couldnt have chosen a better place to stop and rest. I ate some chicken nuggets and a nice cold coke then washed up in their quality restrooms.

Things were starting to look up for a bit but then I found myself back on the metro enjoying Madrid from beneath.

(to be contined, I cant deal with this french keyboard. Ill be at a backpacker hotel tomorrow night so most likely they will have an english keyboard. Ill copy the rest of my journal on to the internet in much less time)

I hope you've finally been able to sleep; this is a problem I'm worried I will have to deal with too. A friend is suppose to be giving me a Xanax for me take on my trip which will calm my nerves and hopefully put me to sleep on the 15 hour flight to China. Happy Trials!

I'm looking forward to reading more!

Another comment on those pesky French keyboards :p

Just post a legend/key up, and we can translate on our own...I ended up sending messages in cryptic wording (just typing as I normally would), and did that. That way, less time at the internet cafes = more money and time you can spend *on* your travels! Let your readers have the headache instead ;)

French/English keyboard
z = w
q = a
a = q
etc...
