5/21 - Andalucia

I'm not going ot say it was a great night sleep but it was much needed rest even if only for an hour at a time.

I woke up for good around 6:30am and noticed light peeking through the curtains. I couldn't help myself so I got up to take a better look. We were already in the deep south of Spain. A region called Andalucia. This was the Spain I remembered from pictures. Rolling hills, farms, small quaint villages with white homes. There were wild dogs, clothes hanging out to dry, narrow winding roads through miniature mountains. Ok, they are real mountains but I am still waiting for the High Atlas range in Morocco.

I have the west side of the train so I stepped out of my cabin into the hall and go tt owitness a spectacular show of color splashed togeter in the form of a Spanish sunrise. Pink, orange, red, green, brown, and again highlighted with small towns tucked away on the hillside.

It was still somewhat dark so there were great white lights adding that last accent and letting the passanger going by know that there is a life going on in their small portion of the world.

After taking in the views for a bit I decided I would be much better off trying to get a little more sleep before we arrive. I laid down and closed my eyes. This only lasted a few seconds before I was forced, out of curiousity, to take another look outside. It is like laying in bed at 3am wanting to go to bed but some crappy B movie comes on and you can't turn it off. Except tihs isn't a B movie, it is a masterpiece set in southern Spain with Andalucia as my theater.

We should arrive to Algeciras in about 40 minutes. I have considered checking out what it would take for me to get to GIbralter since I don't need to be in Tangier tll later tonight anyway. I decided to stuff my daypack into my big pack so I'm not looking like an overloaded schmuch with "sucker" written on his forehead. I am only going to do it for the ferry crossing and the port in Tangier so I can walk with confidence to eliminate some of the hassles.

My next entry should be coming from Africa.
