It's May 20.... driving slowly back towards Tulsa, out of the Painted Desert, into New Mexico. We stop in Santa Fe to check out Old Town. We do a little shopping but spend most of the time in a pub... it was after eating a flaming hot carnito so we were thristy.
Out of Sante Fe on our way to Albuquerque... I had passed a really cool looking camp site on my way West towards Las Vegas that was located right outside of Albuquerque so we were headed there.
Twenty miles outside Sante Fe the car starts cutting out.
Crap.
What's wrong?
Don't know.

Then.....
The check engine light comes on.
Shit.
What's wrong?
I don't know, but it's NOT GOOD.

We pull over at a gas station located in the middle of nowhere and check the obvious; oil, fluids, etc.
Nothing.
"Can we make it to the next town?"
"How far?"
"Twenty five miles."
Crap.
"I dunno. I guess we have to try."
