Where in the world is Luang Prabang?

I am still in Luang Prabang, Laos (I've been here since heading down south from China over a week ago). It is a beautiful, quaint, charming, little town by the Mekong River that has a ton of Buddhist temples and is close to lots of fun caves, waterfalls that you can swim in, etc. This is actually the town where would-be monks from all over Laos come to go to monk school. As a matter of fact, I actually have three cute little young monks wrapped in orange robes sitting right next to me in this Internet cafe. They are always very nice and love to practice their English, especially on Pamela and I and (dare I say?) any other young female tourists around.

I met back up with Adrian here in Luang Prabang (he's my Swiss-German friend that I can now officially call my "boyfriend"), and we will be meeting Urs, Reto, and another Swiss-German guy named Mike in a few days.

I have spent the last few wonderful nights sitting on the banks of the Mekong River, under the moonlight with candles, guitars, a few beers, and wonderful company (Adrian and Pamela). We laughed, played, and even took a few minutes to appreciate where we were before bursting back out into some sultry blues. The water rushing over the rocks directly in front of us made for perfect background music.... and the almost full moon reflected on the water enhanced and even softened the candle light.
We STILL haven't done any sightseeing. I've just seen a few of the temples around town. Adrian was wiped when he first arrived. Then he got really, really sick. Food poisoning sick. I hated seeing it, but was glad I was there to help. He was actually a good patient. He drank his fluids and didn't get overly dramatic about the situation claiming he was going to die or something..... which is GOOD. Laos is NOT the place you want to get sick. The guidebook says that when you need medical attention in Laos, get the first bus to Thailand.

I feel so lucky. Adrian is such a beautiful person... and such a gentleman. He definitely had some strange graceful handsomeness about him even while sick.
I feel very, very close to him.... and it seems to deepen every day. What is happening to me?
:)
