We just spent an expensive 4 days in Playa Tamarindo....Costa Rica is expensive compared to everywhere we have been so far but Tamarindo seems twice as much as the rest of the country. It´s a holiday beach town where loads of Americans seem to spend fortunes on the casino, large dead fish they killed earlier and prostitutes....fortunately, for me at least there was a killer bowl............

The extreme temperature made it hard work to skate in the day but the locals rig up spotlights a few times a week and skate from midnight onwards....even then its still baking but a few cold beers help things along and there is a stereo tuned to punk, punk and punk!!! Couldn´t be better.

This was all accidental and the reason for going to Tamarindo was to meet up with Dave who was on a 10 day holiday to Costa Rica with some friends from back in England....a bit of a change of pace for us as these boys were on a short visit and were trying to fit it all in, big on drinking but low on energy and all the jet lag stuff so we didn´t have much trouble keeping up....just damaged our pockets a bit.
We left the high life of Tamarindo behind with the lads looking for a last night of overpriced bar hopping in the one bar in town; Mambo which is full of serious looking dudes and big line of very young looking prostitues trying to tap into the large amount of American dollars in town....glad to be moving on and in a couple of days we will be on the slopes of Volca Arinal which is pretty active with lava and flying rocks........pictures of our fiery demise soon!
