On to Other Things

Okay, so I left the island of Corfu early (early!) yesterday morning, headed to mainland Greece through a place called Meteora. Metora was really cool, there were these amazing, monstrosity rock formations (reminded me of Garden of the Gods in Colorado) with monestaries built on the tops. It was so beautiful and we actually got to tour through some of the monestaries. It was funny because we had to put on skirts (they had them available, free of rent, at the front doors) over our jeans in order to be allowed in. Anyway, the place was amazingly beautiful and we did a lot of climbing and I was in bed asleep last night by like 6:00 PM.... there was no heat in the hotel and it was below freezing... but we had lots of blankets and the Tylonol PM didn't hurt.
So today we caught the bus to Thessaloniki... I really don't think there is anything here but it's just a stopover so we can catch the train tomorrow morning to Istanbul.
So... plans have changed a little. I will go in to Turkey through the north starting tomorrow and head along the southwestern coast (and see a little in the middle) and then head back to Greece via ferry along the Greek islands and back into Athens.
I am NOT travelling alone... I have met up with Lorri from Alaska and Pam from Vancouver, Canada. Both are very mature, very respectable people so don't worry about me getting caught with hashish or anything. We are all really excited, and I have a special giddiness about spending Thanksgiving in a country called Turkey.
We are actually moving at lightening speed because Lorri has to be back in Athens on December 6 in order to fly to Africa. That's when I will probably make up my mind whether I'm coming home or not. We'll just have to see.
Hee, hee.... I have to laugh.... I'm curretly in a Greek Internet cafe and they are playing American Christmas music... already! "Rockin' around the Christmas tree, have a happy holiday...." I love it!
Jamas! (that's Greek for "Cheers".... pronounced Yamas)

Erin, you don't know me, but I wandered into your blog by accident not long after you started it, and have been reading it ever since. Just thought I ought to leave you a comment. I know I hate it when people don't leave me comments on my blog. So, hang in there, and I've enjoyed following your adventure.
