Travel Day

6:30 AM... ouch... and I am on a ferry back to Split.
This ferry is a katamaran... it's layout is like an airplane with passenger seating... only no flight attendants and no beverage service.
Here's another funny, though. Here are the emergency instructions pasted to the back of the seat in front of me:

On hearing emergency announcement via loudspeaker:
1) Dress warmly and DON'T FORGET drugs if you use them.
2) Put on your life jacket.
3) Help elderly and disabled persons.
4) Follow instructions.

It's nice to see they have their priorities in order, eh?
Last night while looking for spaghetti sauce to go with my pasta at the supermarket I saw (among the tomato sauce and pesto sauce):
Soy Sauce
Coctail Sauce
China Sauce
Mexico Sauce
What are China sauce and Mexico sauce, you ask? I think it was like Sechuan and Queso or something, but I'm really not sure.

LATER THAT DAY
12:30 PM ....
The fast katamaran ferry got into Split at 7:35 AM. I caught the 8 AM bus from Split to Pula. It is an 11 hour bus ride... ouch. So here I am trying to write on the bus. The weather is cold and rainy.
We stopped in Zadar earlier for about 20 minutes. All I wanted was to use the bathroom and get a cappacino. The bus station bathroom had no toilet paper and no running water. So in addition to NOT being able to wipe my ass, I couldn't wash my hands. Then, the quest for coffee came up short. I walked into one place and said, "Cappacino?"
The woman said, "No."
So I walked next door and asked the man, "Cappacino? Cafe?"
The man siad, "No cappacino, no coffee, no water."
I asked, "Anywhere?" and he nodded.
So I resorted to thinking that I was S.O.L. until I passed some outdoor tables (RIGHT NEXT DOOR) where people were enjoying what? Freakin' cappacinos and coffee!
So the quest did not come up completely short, but I had to down it because the bus was leaving. When I got back on, someone had moved all my stuff to another seat.... why? I don't know. I know it's not that big of a deal, but I remember thinking, "Get me out of this god forsaken country."
Funny how fatigue level coupled with weather conditions can make you really like or dislike a place.

LATER THAT DAY
2:00 PM
I don't want to be on a bus right now. I think this might be the first time I miss my bed.

STILL LATER
5:00 PM
I am going to write a horror novel... a Stephen King type horror novel about a girl on a bus that just keeps on going..... and going.... and going and going.... and never stops.... for hours..... and hours...... and hours..... maybe even days..... and months..... and years.
I want Taco Cabana.
