First attempt at a blog so here goes.
As most people travelled to the sun and holidays etc. Also a bit of camping and sore heads at times for weekends away following rallies (car) in Ireland. Got a chance of a job in Saudi Arabia so took all of a day to think about it and left in a month.
Hot, barren except where there was water and we were building farms and opening up the land for irrigation. The landscape changed dramaticially over the next five years as did wildlife - birds etc increased in numbers plus insects.
The desert was the best. Silence and if you looked full of life. Most types bit or poisioned however so a few stories there. Travelled a lot inside the country from Tabruk near Jordan to Wadi Dwasair near Yemen. Met locals every day and ate everywhere from hotels to roadside cafes miles from anywhere.
Different way of life and the real bedouins were a pleasure to know and would welcome you anytime.
Left and went to do a RTW. Took about four months to go to Bangkok, Hongkong,OZ(2M), NZ,Hawaii,N America. Saw a lot but made a decision to do it again so this is the result nearly 18 years later.

Living in N Ireland and doing trips as much as possible over the years to europe etc only made it worse. Got away a few times to work short term but not enough.
