Brazil Blur

Just a quick note to say that we are having a great trip here in Brazil.  Too good of a time for the blog.  Sao Paulo was way better than any book says it is.  We looked for dangerous people and found none.  Randy and I then rented a car and drove the coast to Rio spending three days in Paraty – a nice colonial town on a beautiful bay.  Finally, Ipanema and Copacabana!  On to Minas Gerais later in the week followed by Bahia for the remainder.  All I can say right now is that it is looking like Brazil is the best country I have visited, Brazilians are the most wonderful of people, Brazilian women… ahhhh, and we have not seen ANYTHING that is remotely dangerous in appearance.  Crossing Sao Paulo streets with the cars gunning for you or Rio de Janeiro with its 80kph buses on the streets – now there´s danger!  Off to a favella tomorrow in search of the dangers for which Brazil is so infamous.  I´m expecting to find impoverished neighborhoods with smiling people.  Geez, you can´t believe the smiling faces in Brazil.  It´s too bad a small minority of drug gangs has the world (media help) believing this is a place to avoid.  Quickly falling in love with an amazing nation.  Wish I could speak Portuguese…

    Hi there Rick,
My neighbors with the computer moved back to MO leaving me to find alternative computer – I did here at the senior center which I can reach by bus in one hour! So now I can repsond again. Viva Brazil – actually if you know Spanish very well you can eke out Portugese – enough to just get by on. The nicest thing is that those who I know speak much slower than the Spanish speakers! Have a wonderful journey
