Turning Point

We have now passed the southern most point of our trip and are now heading north. To say it was a little nippy in southern Patagonia is putting it mildly. The other morning I woke up and turned on my torch to be greeted by a sparkly display. Very pretty but very cold – the inside of the tent had frozen up! I also realised we had overslept as the two wooly hats I was wearing prevented me from hearing my alarm clock. But we have survived and the scenery was definitley worth it. Here´s us at the Torres Del Paine (Towers of Pain) aptly named as Dulcie´s decent from this view point was mostly on her backside accompanied by a mini avalanche.

Bum slide

We are currently whale watching in Puerto Madryn (we can see the whales from the beach!) and our next stop will be Buenos Aires if we can defrost the tent.

Wonderful scenery! Looks like jagged teeth! No wonder it’s called Towers of Pain! I shall refrain from mentioning anything about the size of Dulcie’s rear!

Enjoy the whale watching. When we went whale watching in Alaska we were not allowed to go within 100 yards of them and all we saw were a few spouts and a quick glimpse if their hump backs. Still, it was worth it and I’m sure you are having a terrific time.(Don’t think I could take the cold myself, though)

Roll-on somewhere hot! The scenery must be fantastic to put up with those temperatures. Love the photos, can’t wait to see the other 15,000.

    Missing you loads xxx

Oh Patagonia – I have wanted to go horse treking there but wonder now if it is a good as, based on your experience, I would have to take a extra loud alarm clock to hear through the two woolly hats and two large hot water bottles – one to thaw me out in the morning and their other the thaw out the horse !! Lovely pic of you amongst the Towers of Pain. Robert – did you get a pic of Dulcie sliding gracefully down the mountainside ?
