Roaming Rileys

We, the RoamingRileys are a married couple working full time jobs and attending graduate school part time. We spend our free time traveling and planning trips and hope to leave our corporate lives behind once we graduate at the end of 2011. For now, we are honing our traveling skills, gaining familiarity with being engulfed in foreign cultures and languages, learning to pack lightly, and most importantly learning about ourselves.

After traveling the world, we hope to one day start a small business organizing cultural tours for groups in various locations around the world. We want to educate people about other cultures because we feel that the knowledge gained also helps us understand the importance of our own culture as well.

Cast of characters:

Brian:
Brian is half way through in his quest for a graduate degree in American Studies. He works full time as a web programmer and spends his free time mountain biking, taking pictures, and traveling. He plans on focusing his thesis for his degree on agritourism and the rising locavore food movements in American culture and hopes to pursue a further degree in food culture through the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy (affiliated with Slow Food international).

Amy:
Amy is Brian’s much better half and is much closer to finishing her graduate degree in American Studies. She plans on focusing her thesis on the industrialization and globalization of American food. She would also like to attend the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy. She spends her free time mountain biking, and planning trips for herself and friends.
