I tell you my holiday in Maremma, in the south of Tuscany, and I want to talk about Saturnia an incredible littlr villagge that can fascinate and surprise its tourists…

Perched on a small hill, from which it can easily dominate all the views that the territory offers, ranging from sea to Mount Amiata dell’Argentario, Saturnia shows the characteristics of a town absolutely deserves to be visited, a town that arose in Roman times, now has to tell a past certainly very old, made up of many dominations and important events, which over the centuries have led and marked its culture and its appearance.

After its foundation, which occurred at the hands of the Roman Empire, the town was a possession of Aldobrandeschi of Orsini, the Republic of Siena and the Grand Duke of Tuscany, these legendary presence today remain some splendid buildings, elements of strong interest in the town.

The main monuments of the little village of Saturnia are the Palazzo Panciatichi-Ximenes, built during the Middle Ages and was originally a resident of Governors of Justice, the Castellum Aquarum, cistern for rainwater of Roman origin, the walls erected under the Roman Empire and restored to hand the Republic of Siena and the Porta Romana, access to the ancient fortified city.
