El Puerto de Santa María and Seville

October 3rd, 2005

We headed to El Puerto de Santa María, a 1-2 hour (I forget) train ride from Sevilla, in a town not far from Cadiz. We were there to visit the Osbourne winery, an assignment that Rich’s sister sent him on. She wanted him to interview the head of the company, or at least someone in charge there to see if it would be good for her TV show.

I was hesitant about using our valuable time in Spain to do something that might not be that great.

Sevilla

October 1st, 2005

On the flight from New York to Madrid, there were two German girls on the plane who wouldn’t shut up the ENTIRE time, even when everyone was asleep. It was ridiculous. And speaking GERMAN. Och.

My travel companions made fun of me for bringing earplugs and eyeshades, but now they know I am just travel savvy.

Countdown Espana

September 28th, 2005

We leave TONIGHT, in FIVE hours our plane will lift off.

Everyone keeps asking if I am excited. No, not really, I am stressed and nervous. I’ve been crazy all day trying to get everything taken care of at work. I’m finally feeling better about it.

I’m still totally not mentally prepared to be in another country. It will be awesome!!

Pre-Spain

September 25th, 2005

We are leaving for a short 10-day jaunt to Spain in three days.

We land in Seville, then go to Granada, Madrid, Toledo, and fly out of Barcelona.

Why are we going to Spain? Well, my guy and I love to travel but we both have regular JOBS with only a few days of vacation a year. We decided to focus on one country. Of course, we are only hitting a tiny, tiny, portion of Spain in 10 days but at least it is something.

The Cost

September 15th, 2004

When I tell someone about my trip, one of the questions they always want to ask, and are sometimes afraid to ask, is How Much Did All That Cost You?

Or, “Man, you must have had a lot of money”

*sigh*

Printing Digital Photos

August 21st, 2004

Since I’ve been back, I’ve been getting my digital photos printed out, slowly but surely.

I’ve used Snapfish, Dotphoto, Winkflash, Shutterfly and Ofoto.

Why so many different websites? Because almost all of them offer free prints when you sign up, so I got like 10-20 prints for free and only paid $2 or so for shipping.

How Did My Travel Gear Fare?

August 20th, 2004

Before my trip, I took a picture of some of the travel gear I had purchased. Now I”m gonna tell you how that all panned out.

Floss, Q-Tips, lotion, umbrella, sunblock: Obvious.

Detergent: I did use this several times to rinse out clothes. So I’d say it was pretty helpful.

Coupons

July 5th, 2004

One of my favorite things is coupons. When you are traveling, you can find them, too.

In places like Australia and New Zealand, you can find lots of Backpacking publications (magazines, guides, brochures, booklets) that have coupons. Sometimes they are at the inside of the last page. Or they can be anywhere. Look in info offices, airports and hostels for them. Whenever you see a new one, grab it, even if you don’t want it, because it might have coupons.

Sometimes you can find coupons on websites, too.

I found lots of coupons for 10% or 20% off of admissions to lots of things. I used a coupon on the Zorb and also on our cruise in Milford Sound. We used internet cafe coupons all the time. And, one of the best things, are coupons for hostels. Sometimes we would go to a certain hostel just because I had a coupon. Heh heh.

I love coupons!
