Who is the Elephant?
Despite a good amount of western tourists in India, the immense local population insures that we are few and far between, comparatively. This leads to a lot of singling out of us whities for “hellos”, stares, and begging.
In Agra, we were siping our spice laden chai on a street lit by candles. The electricity had done its near daily duty of failing the population, and it was hard to make details out more than a meter or two down the alleys.
Two children walked by and happened to see an elephant appear out of the dark. One jumped a foot in the air and stared with his jaw dropped. Adam turns to Cara and says: “You’re the elephant.”
