Copacabana, Titicaca Lake y la Isla del Sol

The Isla del Sol, one of the holiest sites for the Inka culture is really close to Copacabana, a small little town near La Paz. I only spent a day over there, but it was enough to enjoy a lovely walk on the island where the Sun, supreme God of the Inkas, was born

The Titicaca lake, “grey Puma” in indigenous Aymara language, is the natural boarder between Bolivia and Peru and it´s one of the highest lakes in the world at 3800 masl!!! It´s stunning. There are some parts where you can´t see the other side ´cause it´s sooo big. It´s really pretty.

To get to Copacabana I took a bus which after a couple of hours had to cross the lake. I´ve seen cars crossing water on ferries but never like this, the ferry was made of a couple of wooden parts and I was doubting whether it was gonna make it or not…

Finally I got a small boat to the island where after walking for an hour I saw all the Inka ruins. All very impresive.

That same afternoon it was time to move to Peru and try not to get traped in all the strikes there are in the south of the country.
Cuzco was next…
