So I left Newquay on Saturday morning for the silent reverie of Prussia Cove. Of course nothing is easy with just getting there, the weekends place strains on the national rail as ‘improvement works’ take over the lines.
Although I’m on my bi-annual jaunt to Cornwall for a week of fun, frolicking and swimming in the surf, I thought I’d catch some real waves in THE best surf town of the UK. That would be Newquay.
I haven’t quite made it to Cornwall yet, I leave in two days. But on Saturday Melissa and I went to Stratford-upon-Avon for the day.
So you may be thinking, what’s been happening since the big trip to Poland? Apart from working my butt off to pay for upcoming trips that I already have deposits on, I did have to have a week off work to get my wisdom teeth out.
We packed our bags the night before, and set off at a reasonable hour for the four hour drive to Szczecin.
SO we got to Warsawa safely enough by train, only we forgot to print out where our hostel was located, and so the fun begins.
On Saturday morning we were up early to get on the bus to Auschwitz concentration camp. We went with a tour group which was interesting but didnt really give much time for reflection at the camps. You see, Auschwitz itself is a town, where people lived before, during and after the camps existence.
This isnt the easiest thing Ive written, and my experience and words cannot show enough of what I experienced. This is what I learned, not what I felt.
Lija and I are off again, this time on a nostalgic visit through time and place to experience the Poland that our grandfathers grew up in. We are now in Warsaw, but spent the first few days in Krakow.
