life and death

January 11th, 2006

The other night I was talking with Nicole and we were speaking about my friend Nancy LaFrenz who passed away and how the action of death at times is miraculous.
There is that moment of release before they move on. It is like the last breathe of life. And then when your born there is a huge force and a rip opening from the safe place of the womb. And we think birth is beautiful when in truth it is somewhat tramatic.
Thinking about that, my friends Casey and Rian have given birth to a 6pound baby boy named Blake Eliott White. He is adorable. She talked of labor and the intesnisty of the pain and how incredible the body is for opening and releasing muscles to let life into this world. However Blake did not like bright light or when he was unwraped from his blanket he started crying.
I started thinking how strange it would be if you had never usede your voice or heard real sound opposed from vibration what an adjustment to be in this world.
Okay I think life is incredible our coming and going and then all the crazy stuff inbetween.

(I knew this) Their tank will be given an add on swim world. ( the tank is being changed around) They will live in the bathhtub for two days. (I will not be here) Oh yah, when Zeus does the “bitch slap” to Caspy it is really them kissing. Caspy loves it.

My holiday break

December 30th, 2005

My holiday break began in New Orleans with my brother, mother and father. You could just guess the crazy stories and adventures that took place.
It was very interesting to see the state of the city and the spirits of the people of New Orleans. I tell you it looked like a ghost town. Nobody was really on the street and the resturants were half full. We had some of our food on plastic plates and plastic silverwear. Help wanted signs are on every door, except that the rent has been raised too high for someone to actually live there. There are struggles being faced and I kind of feel like it’s a great oppurtunity for New Orleans to reinvent their urban city. Who knows if that will happen.
I will also give a shout out to the Krazy Korner on Bourbon Street where we all got Krazy. For those of you who don’t know I went to New Orleans for a wedding of a family friend Jake Tompkins. The whole famliy was there. we all had a GREAT time.
Then a week of movies, shopping with my sister in law and having great dinner’s with my family and a wonderful tofu curry at my old resturant Lattitudes!!
Then everything went into swing first of course Progressive Dinner that was as always wild. Then Christmas eve in the bay area with the Lucas’ and then Christmas morning with family and then off to Mor Mor’s for the final frontier of Christmas.
It was wild, fun and full of laughter.
Then Julianna and Lisa arrived at my parnets and we played Apples to Apples with my high school drama teacher and dear friend. Then we drove in the pouring rain to Portland.
I’m back and so happy to be home and see my Ptown family. I missed the snow but feel so thrilled for 06.’ Now the highlight for 06′ is “Fitness 06′” Check in and I will let you know the scoop and if you want any details on any story just ask. I am not a shy individual.
Happy New Year

I send deep love and support to her husband, family, friends and cat. I celebrate her life with putting on a clown nose and crying till I laugh.

Dream

December 6th, 2005

Okay so I had this fantastical dream last night. I was living with this community and we were a traveling circus troupe. We began the shoe with this “cowboy” coming out to the center of a large intersection and we took his rope and began to swing it. It swirled and got larger and larger as if he was going to catch a herd of cattle. Instead the rope as soon as it got large enough swirled into a huge tent.
Then the show began. I was a trapeze artist. I climbed up this huge tree with rope attached to it and flew into the air. I then jumped to another trapeze and flew with this other women and then we came down and took a bow. Beautiful and inspiring.
I called Do Jump today and will begin taking acroa dn trapeze starting in late January.Yah for insight

Holiday

December 5th, 2005

Holiday, Celebrate, if we took a holiday yah( madonna) can you just hear her. I always seem to hear her when I just simply say “holiday” speaking of holidays we have certainly kicked off the season.
To begin with a awesome rock and roll Thanksgiving to then move in to a big bash at the BootsnAll party. All the sister’s where there: Nicole, Sonali, Juls,Lisa, Angie and Sarah as well as Jane. And Gwen showed up as well. Met a lot of cool crazy travlers as well. Sean and the gang put on a great spread. We also got some great footage for my new documentary which I will share about later in another entry.
Then this weekand Insight Out hold’s it’s second retreat. We will be in Snowden,WA for three days dreaming and planning and playing with the whole company. It is going to be great. I am so excited to see everyone in a room together relaxing listening and creating instead of at tech week when we are still listening and creating just at a very hight intensity level.
Then the 14th Insight Out holds our Holiday party at the Wonder Ballroom 7pm to when ever. It is an open mic so come on down and share some thoughts. I think I may show up as the beat poet with bad holiday beat poems. We will see. What should my name be??
Then I leave Portland the morning of the 15th and head down to Sacramento aka Auburn and then the next morning take off with my dad, mom and brother to New Orleans for a wedding.
Back in California on the 20th. Then we begin Lucas holiday cheer (sung by Madonna of course)
23rd will be the 15th annual progressive party with the Tompkins/Lucas and Havenbergs. We will see what surprises happen this year.
24th Down to the bay area to see the Lucas’s
25th baby jesus birth to Mor Mor and Holm family
27th Julianna and Lisa pick me up and we take the 5 home to Portland.
Then I am back and done traveling for some time.
Check in later for the documentary info. Much holiday love and joy. Let us come together to give thanks and spread peace.

TN Turtle time

November 30th, 2005

Okay so there is an interesting dynamic going on with the turtles. First off we have no idea what sex either of these turtles are. Zeus is larger than Caspian in size and generally dominates the tank. Sometimes Zeus gets in Caspians face and takes it’s hand/fins and waves them in Caspians face. Lisa says that Zeus is bitch slapping Caspian.
I think that Caspian sort of likes it. Caspian doesn’t move or try to get out of the way when Zeus is doing the “wave in face” action. So I was wondering if it was like tickling the face kind of movement.
Today Shanthi our 2 and a half year old neighbor came over to look at the turtles and when Zeus climbed out of the water she cried out “There he is” and when Caspian stuck it’s head out of the water she yelped” Oh she’s cute”
So whe are confused. Any thoughts???

I am concerned

November 29th, 2005

I am concerned
about the unconcerned
about the twisted thoughts
that warp, rack and become ingrained in the soul
for generations
I am concerned
about deception and how it mixes with power
leading you to believe you are better than
I am concerned
that equality is still misssing
I am outraged
that we think that is okay
I am a woman
living in the United States
I pay homage to all that have come before me
fighting for the voice of women, men and humanity
From them and with them I speak
and I will not shut up.
I am concerned

Progressive Turkey Day

November 26th, 2005

I want to express the thankfulness and rock and roll that took place for Turkey Day. I began my morning with making homemade cranberry sauce. Thanks mom and headed over to Angie’s to help and hang out since I was not going to be there for her turkey day. I arrived and went to work with making her wild mushroom pecan stuffing muffins and a bloody mary. Sarah arrived and we all kept helping with making her holiday just yummy! They even had a fire pit going in the back which was warm and smoky.
Then home to pick up Juls and Lisa. We drove over to Ericka and Free’s and drove with them in Jen’s big van with martenellis and had a rip roaring time. Sam and Kristin and Susan had a beautiful spread and a great list of cocktails. As usual we laughed and laughed about the true importants of green bean casserole and that “somebodies coming” (inside joke that must be explained on request)
Then we journey over to Erika and Free’s house. Which was stunning. A fire place, candles everywhere and a beautiful table. I really was floored by the warmth of this Portland family and the creativity of all our spirits. Dinner was tasty.
We then venture forth to Julianna,Lisa and my house and begin the rock and roll adventure. Celebrity played twice. delicious dessert and a whole lot of coffee and drinks. Thanks to the Manzana crew for making another holiday apperance and thank you to all of the family.
It was an incredible day of joy, laughter and great thankful cheer. I believe we kicked this season off just right. Ah and the left overs.
Coming soon; the “Stuffing Party” everyone says they have the best stuffing. Bring your and we will see which one is the best and what makes the best stuffing the best.
Happy Holidays
