We don’t want safe! We want toxic!

Herdis and I are becoming quite taken with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It’s a bit uneven, but has some seriously gut-busting moments (last night it was Charlie and Mac trying to huff kindergarten elmers glue; hence the title). I’d recommend downloading episode 2 off of iTunes (the abortion one). It starts out slow, but we were seriously cackling by the end.

On a related note, popwatch ran an article on 10 reasons you should be watching It’s always sunnny…. Check it out.

Went to Yoga last night, which was wonderful. I really enjoyed it, so I think I’m going to go every week. Work is going well. I still need to test out my HD, but I have to wait till this afternoon for that. Ran errands this morning – it’s always nice to get out of the office – and there are ducklings on the Avon!! It’s still sort of chilly, but very sunny and spring-time out.

Huh, apparently Kal Penn is joining House. It’s funny – I was watching SVU last night and he was the guest star. Which really doesn’t work, because as soon as he showed up in the background, you immediately know he’s going to be the serial rapist because he’s the famous guest star.

And on all things tv related; John Oliver on speculation on last night’s Daily Show? Awesome. And Jon Stewart’s interview of Chris Matthews? Wow.

Speaking of Jon Stewart. “Comedy Central is picking up a sketch variety show series from Daily Show host Jon Stewart’s Busboy Prods. called Important Things With Demetri Martin. The series will have Martin, a comedian and featured contributor on Daily Show, alternating between taped sketches and stand-up performances in front of a studio audience, the format used for Comedy Central’s Chappelle’s Show and Mind of Mencia, which received a fourth-season order this week. Martin previously worked with Comedy Central on his first comedy album, These Are Jokes, a stand-up tour, and a primetime special, Demetri Martin, Person, which aired in January. Stewart has reportedly taken an active role in developing the show, which is slated for the second half of 2008 with anywhere from six to 10 episodes. Busboy, which has a first-look deal with Comedy Central, first collaborated with the network for The Colbert Report. It also had another pilot set up, the scripted single-camera Three Strikes, but Comedy Central has passed on that project. (Hollywood Reporter)” (from EW).

Ah – and now popwatch has chimed in, “Still, I can’t say Martin’s the most obvious choice for the second cast member to break out with his or her own show. Just imagine some of the other possibilities: Samantha Bee’s This Week in God, four times a week! Last night’s “Specularium” sketch, where the correspondents gathered for a nonsensical McLaughlin Group-style roundtable, expanded to its full potential! John Oliver, talking about anything whatseover for 30 minutes!” I totally second John Oliver – but keep him around as a reporter for a while! Now that Stephven is gone, they need to keep some good talent around for a while (I was thrilled when Rob Cordry came back for a guest sketch).

Also from EW; “Showtime kills with Dexter ratings The second season premiere of Showtime’s series Dexter attracted more than a million viewers on Sunday (Sept. 30) night at 9 p.m. The series stars Michael C. Hall as a likable forensics expert for the Miami Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer. Sunday’s airing marks the first time Showtime broke the million-viewer mark for a single run and a 67 percent increase over the series premiere last October. Showtime heavily promoted Dexter‘s second season, including turning the water red in fountains nationwide. (Hollywood Reporter)” How awesome is that marketing?

Portman joins Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire in Brothers.

A new Wallace & Gromit short.

From popwatch: “There are many reasons to not like the Brits. Their insistence on driving on the wrong side of the road is one. The fact that their accent makes the dimmest person sound positively brilliant is another. But the thing I hate most is that, by and large, their TV is light years ahead of ours. Take, for example, Jekyll. Done on a budget that would barely cover the catering on Heroes, this BBC series is a reinvention of the Jekyll-and-Hyde legend that crackles with wit, suspense, and genuine terror. No wonder the writer, Steven Moffat, was just hired by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson to write their Tintin trilogy.” If I remember correctly, Stephen Moffat also wrote Coupling, right?

Neva’s got a new blog post up. In it, she mentions the Mighty Boosh. I’m not sure where this show is from, but it plays here in NZ. I saw one episode and it was highly surreal.

Yay CA activists! From Courage Campaign, “Gov. Howard Dean, Chair of the Democratic National Committee, wrote to congratulate everyone in California: “Thousands of you took action and sent a strong message that we won’t stand for Republican dirty tricks any longer. The California Democratic Party and groups like Courage Campaign and Californians for Fair Election Reform were also heavily involved and deserve a tremendous amount of credit for slowing this to a halt. Working together, the power of ordinary Americans speaking out couldn’t be ignored.”

musica; The god-awful radio station. Usually they’re good, but because Justin Timberlake is coming this month, they are insisting on playing one of his songs every ten minutes or so. Marilyn Manson was in Auckland last night – did they play lots of his stuff beforehand? Nooo…. Granted, they are also playing a lot of Linkin Park, who are also coming, so I shouldn’t complain too much. (But I swear – if I hear sexy back one more time…)
