Mostly useless entertainment tidbits
Finished Ratcatcher, which was fairly amusing, if highly James Bond reinvented as a runner, and the third Cadfael, which I also unfortunately figured out early on. Still, I really enjoyed it. Also, much as I was sort of disappointed by Shrewesbury, it was cool to read the book and go, ‘hey – I walked on that bridge!’.
Been watching bits of live earth (AFI, Smashing pumpkins, Madonna) I can’t find the chili peppers performance. Ooh! Found it on youtube. How much do I love that Anthony Kiedis is jumping around in a big multicolored poncho?
I’m supposed to be at the zoo, but the storms this morning woke me up. I’m gonna go run errands and hit the art museum, I think.
Since I was talking about how the the 4th of July makes me think of the Lair, some photos from Gail from the Lair last year:

I was talking with another backpacker about how much we are going to appreciate Christmas this year. And jeans. I miss wearing real, low-rise jeans. I’ve been wearing the same 2 outfits for months now… I miss real clothes a little. I love traveling more, but still…
There’s a great interview with Daniel Radcliff here:

(Sydney’s not doing a midnight showing, so I’ll see it Wed. morning. It’ll still before the midnight showings elsewhere. )
Ratatouie easter eggs:

Trailers:
Gone, baby, gone (boy, Boston has a great reputation in the movies. Mystic River, Departed, and now this – and yes I realize 2 come from the same author):

Lions for lambs (see here’s the thing, do the costars make up for Cruise’s crazy presence? In war of the worlds and mission impossible (even with Billy Crudup and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) they didn’t. This one… maybe. I love Meryl Streep (not enough to see the Devil wears Prada, but still…) However, the plot – I might go watch some daily show instead and wait for the DVD):

The 11th hour (Leo, you’ve been nominated for oscars, could you not to a better job introducing the thing?):

Sunshine coming out is US soon, so the NYTimes has a good interview with Danny Boyle. It’s already made back most of its production budget before US release (28/45 mil). I still need to see it. Cillian Murphy…
Got distracted by Defamer this morning. I forgot how funny it is easily I waste time there:
“Criss Angel’s wife says the magic has gone from their marriage and she now wants to make him vanish from her life.” Also, she is unhappy with her estranged husband’s “repeated attempts to saw rumored new girlfriend Cameron Diaz in half with his penis.” “Lindsay Lohan: Rehab is easy; developing the upper body strength necessary to accurately portray a murdered stripper is hard.” “Slow Down, Kid! It’s Not Like A Truck Full Of Nazis Is Chasing Us!”
“We’re still a good six weeks out from pretending to care about the Emmys, but LAT Gold Derby blogger Tom O’Neil spent some time this weekend kidnapping TV Academy voters as they left a Beverly Hills Hilton screening of awards candidates, then waterboarding them in the back of a van until they begged their cruel interrogator to exclusively take down the names of the ten contenders that will soon be narrowed down to a mere five nominees. (You’ve never seen a man truly suffer until he’s spent ten minutes trying to cough the words “Grey’s Anatomy” through excruciatingly waterlogged lungs.) While we’d never dare dissipate the delicious tension of the Emmy nominations parties you’ve planned for July 19th by reprinting the lists here, we will note a handful of key snubbees from the drama category: The Shield, Brothers & Sisters, Rescue Me, and [sci-fi fans please look away, for it’s just too horrible to contemplate] Battlestar Galactica. The full lists, for TV fans with poor impulse control, can be found here.” or here (I have poor impulse control!):

I think you should travel to LA. It’s your spiritual home…
No no. I don’t feel like lung cancer. Besides which, I don’t actually want to work in the industry. It’s just a pastime. And I think most of EW is put together in New York.
