January 18, 2005Kuala Lumpur
We were only there for one day so we chose to do a full day tour of the country and city. I really enjoyed KL and hope to return again in 2006! Here are our pictures.... The Selangor Pewter Factory - Their factory store had their world renouned pewter items at steal prices. We purchased a few things and had them shipped home. On our next trip, I'll bring an empty suitcase just for the pewter! Rick trying his hand at the craft Rubber Tree - I had no idea that rubber came from trees! This is a major export of Malaysia. The Batu Caves - 272 stairs to the top - This is a sacred place for Hindus to come. The annual festival was in two weeks. The statue is of a Hindu god and was built in preparation for the event. They will not get it painted in time, but it will be built for the people to worship. Monkeys were EVERYWHERE!! I didn't use zoom for this picture.
