Australia – Final Tally
BEST thing: Sydney and snorkeling on the reef. Also, OPORTO BONDI BURGERS!!
WORST thing: The fact that every deadly insect and animal is in Australia and even in the cities. (i.e., funnel spider). Enormous spiders and insects are everywhere, lots of mosquitos. You always have to watch out. Also, LONG bus rides.
Also, we were deep on the tourist route, so that obviously had bad implications.
Food: They eat lots of meat and meat pies. Also, they have Tim Tams, which are the most delicious and addictive cookies in the world. OPORTO BONDI BURGER!
Cost: More expensive than New Zealand, obviously much more expensive than Thailand. Sydney was very expensive!
Favorite Place Visited: Sydney. A city, with all the trappings of a city, but drop-dead gorgeous and not too packed with people. The opera house, the bridge, darling harbor, the rocks, the park, the gardens……awesome!
Most Overrated: Fraser Island and The Whitsundays. They were *SO* hyped and made to sound like EVERY backpacker had to do it and they were the most awesome trips you would ever take. Fraser Island was pretty good, actually, but I pretty much hated the Whitsundays trip. Overrated!
Most Underrated: This is hard to say, because like I said, we were on the tourist route so everything was hyped. I can’t even answer. OPORTO BONDI BURGERS!
What I’ll Miss the Most: I think you know the answer……
