Piran is picture perfect! It's a place where movies are made about Americans escaping the hustle and bustle to an exotic little European coastal village, or where foreign films of old fishermen and traditional Adriadic/Slovenian culture are born.
That said, I don't have the energy or inspiration to climb up to the castle... and wouldn't really want to if I did. I made it the 400 meters up the hill to the bell tower. I snapped two photos and promptly came right back down the hill.
There is beautiful jewelry here and it would be fun to shop, but I just spent $60 U.S. sending a package back home to mom and dad. Besides, it sounds like more fun just to get in bed adn either write, sleep, or just lay there. What's wrong with me? I know I'm lonely, I just saw a dead cat in the road..... I'm bored. I've been experiencing the same views, same architecture, same food, etc for weeks now. I'm ready for something new.
I have no one to talk to, no way to ponder and/or convey my thoughts other than writing in this journal. How can I be feeling so distraught and pathetic? I am living my dream, for god sakes.

It's time to shape up. Deep breath, close your eyes, picture this:
You are in a small town on a tiny peninsula in the beautiful Adriadic Sea. Everywhere you look are ancient, midevil buildings, Gothic church steeples, Venetian houses, and tall bell towers that chime melodic songs every hour. Along the harbor, the old men tend to their fishing nets. Along the shoreline, restaurants with twinkling white lights entertain relaxed patrons who sip wine and listen to the waves crash upon the rocks. Up on top of the hill, the castle stands proud. It looks down upon the town, protecting it, urging its citizens to go on about their evening without a worry in the world. Can you imagine a more beautiful and lovely place? Can you imagine being there?

Ahhh, a quick jaunt around town proved that I am not missing anything. It's beautiful out there, a little chilly, a little sleepy. And so am I. All is right with the world again.
