My wife and I are leaving Austin, TX in late January and heading to Thailand for five weeks of backpacking, adventure and fun. We have travelled extensively to various parts of the world, but this is the longest trip we've taken together as a couple. I am a music producer, my wife is an engineer. We are in our early thirties. We are travelling during my wife's sabatical from work, which is a particularly nice perk that allows her 8 weeks of paid vacation. She has always wanted to take an extended journey with me, and when her sabatical was due she offered to take us on this trip. Originally we planned on heading to Europe, but we changed our plans after we spoke to a variety of people who have visited Thailand. After some research and planning, we reserved our tickets and set ourselves up for five weeks of travel throughout the entire country. This blog is an effort to document our journey from the preparation phase all the way to our return to Texas. We hope this will allow all of our family and friends to keep up with us while we are away. We also hope that this might be educational or informative for others that want to take a similar trip.
