Chicoviq

This place is a fun road side stop. Since the Georginas Fuentes were hot springs that are not hot the school decided take us to a place where some REALLY hot water could be enjoyed.

We were not disappointed....

This is pronounced Cheek-oh-veesh. Several students from the school, Proyecto Linguistico Quetzelmateca de Espaņol, went on this road trip because we needed to heat up the body core temperature. The days are delightful but the evenings are quite cool.

When we arrive at the springs they are different than Georginas Fuentas. Georginas is outside and natural surroundings while Chicoviq is buildings with tiled tubs inside. Each tub has a huge pipe with a hard plastic plug in it to stop the hot water. When you are ready you simply pull the plug and VERY hot water comes pouring into the tub. This water is unbelievably hot and comes straight from a volcanic hot spring. Above these pipes are smaller faucets with handles that control cold water.

We filled the tub with scalding hot water and then tempered it with cold water until it reached a temperature that would not cook our insides. Ramon, Mary Jane and I shared one tub which was plenty comfortable. We sat and dethawed from the past couple of weeks and chatted about school and life. Quite lovely....

After we were done soaking we discovered that there is a pool outside. The pool is filled with and kept warm by the same hot springs. It was not deep but the perfect temperature for lounging in.

All in all the visit was exactly what we needed. The cost for the three of us to enjoy all of this - 5q - or .75us. Right on!

The country side out here is amazing. You look onto mountains with fields of crops and a beautiful rushing river runs beside this place.

Ok.... now there is another spot I want to tell you about.
