You American shit!

I just read on news.yahoo.com that Bin Laden sent out some tape about how he'll bring down another September 11th on the U.S. So, really, for those of you worried about how safe we are in Egypt -- we're probably safer here than you guys right now. heh, heh.

The title of this entry comes from a very angry hotel tout we encountered our first day in Luxor. This is our second full day and we're going to take it easy. Head down to the Luxor museum. Tomorrow we've arranged with our hotel to take a cab around the West Bank. The West Bank of Luxor is where all of the famous tombs are - Nefertari, Tut, and friends.

Compared to my first trip here, I hardly have any funny stories to tell. When I walk around with Jason, he gets all of the attention.

Hey, first time for us to log on to your travel site! Sorry we missed so much. Did the person that called you a **** know for a fact you were americans, or just a lucky guess?
Talk soon, Carol and Dave

Oh, they knew we were American. That's usually one of the first things touts ask. For the past couple of days we were saying we were Canadian. It was nice having no real reaction from people, but we realized we didn't really know much about Canada when folks started asking questions about it. Back to the truth! heh.

Just tell them you come from a dinky town in Alberta called Valleyview, 5 hours northwest of Edmonton (the capital of Alberta). Your cover story is that you have never travelled before and this was the first time you even left Valleyview (Alberta is between British Columbia and Saskatchewan). Oh, and say "eh" a lot. :-)

heh. Someone said to us "What is the capital of Canada"? Neither of us knew. Though, the guy didn't seem surprised that we didn't know what the capital of our country was.
