Cairo, I hardly knew ye

Jason and I have arrived a week after the start of Ramadan. My memories of Cairo are of near constant hassling for "papyrus" paintings, taxi rides, Pyramid tours, great hotels and let's not forget - "Where from?", "Welcome!" But I've really hardly heard any of that. The place just seems more... tame.

I guess the touts are just too pooped out during the day. During Ramadan, Muslims are not supposed to eat OR drink. No water, nothing. Most of the shop guys and felucca men we see are lounging around listlessly in plastic charirs on the sidewalk. Sometimes one will get up and and say "Hey, some t-shirts?", but they're not very enthusiastic about selling. Except for the reduced musems hours and no cafes open during the day for the the most part, it's been great.

Today, we went to the Pyramids. We'll probably head down to the big ol' tombs in Luxor the day after tomorrow.
