Beasts and Feasts Tales from Nairobi

Well, here we are in Nairobi. We're in Kenya fora big two and a half days but have made the most of it. Last night we dined atthe world reknown Carnivore restaurant and let me tell you, it's not a place for the vego. There is a massive meat pit in the middle of the place where they cook all manner of flesh. Said flesh is then delivered to your table on a sword. Last night saw us eating pork, chicken, beef, lamb, crocodile, camel and ostrich. We also drank some extremely potent Dawa, Chilean wine and topped it off with some Underberg that almost bounced.

After we'd consumed half the country's wildlife we thought we should see some of it when it was alive. This morning we were treated to a mini safari. We were taken to the Nairobi National Park, which is a huge park full ofwild animals 20 minutes from the city. We saw Zebra, Giraffe, Baboons and all number of antelope type things all with a backdrop of city skyscrapers. Very odd indeed.

Relaxing here at the Hilton seems a long way from Zanzibar. We had the most amazing time there and hopefully we'll get back there one day. The end of our time there saw Tyson DJ-ing at a local night spot (we did the Dirty Dancing dance to the amusement of the locals). We did a 'walk off' with some stray Aussies that we found and the local distributor of Tusker beer started buying us drinks because he thought "that man (Tyson) is the most interesting and fascinating man I have ever seen". Oh, this is after Tyson was spruiking on the street and handing out flyers for the club with Joseph the hunky bouncer.

Stonetown proved to be a great place to wander about, we settled into a nice routine of wandering, resting, wandering some more, watching the sunset from the balcony of the Africa House Hotel (where our table was always reserved) and dining on some fabulous seafood.

Nungwi beach is still the highlight though, sunset dhow cruises, our own private dhow for snorkelling off, lazy days, staff only knowing my husband as "Uncle Tyson" and a very very romantic dinner for two on the sand that made the other guests more than a bit jealous I think.

So after not even two weeks on the road we have become locals at a range of bars and restaurants, met some great locals and travellers and had a rollicking good time. Stay tuned for Tyson's world of facts and figures.

Oh, we saw Mt Killamanjaro from the air yesterday, our plane flew right past it. How cool is that!

"Oh, we saw Mt Killamanjaro from the air yesterday, our plane flew right past it. How cool is that!"

Seconds later the Captain turns to his Co-Pilot and says, "holy crap, where did that mountain come from, phew,...missed it by a baboons dick".

Had some chuckles with this instalment of the Sara Adventures. Good to see you are having oh so many cherished experiences.

I had my own fun actually, Ma Nikolic came to visit and I am the lucky person who got to first hand observe Ma Nikolic and Girlfriend Nikolic put together and carry out "Project thin out the garden 20/20". Not sure if we should get a 6 c/mtr or an 8 c/mtr skip bin.

Oh the adventures. You Sara'a have got nothing.

that said, we do miss you, have fun leaving your mark on various country's.
