Get Me OUT of Kas

I should have known that free apartment living in Kas would come with conditions... nothing is ever completely free, right?
No, don't worry, nothing bad is happening...
It's just that Pamela and I are the "new girls" in a small town... during the low tourism season. What that means is that we are attracting way TOO much attention from all the local men. It's nothing that we can't handle, we are still safe. It's just that:
1) we don't have a moment to ourselves. An innocent dinner invitation the other evening turned into a guy professing his undying love for me.... which was really strange because we had all of 2 hours worth of conversation before he decided that I was the love of his life. Pamela has a suitor of her own who wants to spend every waking hour with her. It's flattering, but completely unnerving when all we wanted was to come to Kas for privacy
2) for some reason that REALLY has me disappointed in the female species, every man in Turkey seems to think that all female Western tourists are sex crazed maniacs that have no interest in quality time, conversation, conservativism, or time alone.... apparently they think all we want to do is have sex. I don't know who they think they are!!! And at first I gave them the benefit of the doubt; all they see of Western women is from the movies and we all know how the movies portray women. And apparently many young travellers are very promiscuous (this is actually not news to me, I have seen a lot in the past few months). But there reached a point when enough was enough and when my, "No's" were not taken seriously enough. I actually lost it on the guy professing his love to me. He wouldn't stop trying to kiss me! I had to resort to physical hostility and an obscene "Get the F^&% out of my face," before the message was clear. It was very clear after that, though. He sauntered away never to be seen again and I walked away from that experience making a personal note to myself to be strong and firm (and honest) in the beginning; never let it get that far just to spare someone's feelings.
I guess this trip is all about educating myself. I am learning a lot.

So, with that said, Pamela and I are bugging out of Kas. Antalya is only a four hour bus ride from here, and it's such a large city that we can easily be anonymous. And, when we are noticed by men, we can be strong and firm and honest and decline ANY invitation to stay in their company.
