A Brief List from the Road

Here's a list of the people that helped me get around New Zealand in one piece. My Hitchhiking rides.....

Starting from Auckland upon my arrival...
1) A Maori guy going to fix an outboard motor for his father.
2) Heavy metal punk rocker kids with a spray painted flourescent car.
3) Rodrigo- a Brazilian carpenter that married a Kiwi girl.
4) A guy that sold digital media storage in Auckland.
5) Marcus- to the yachting regatta we go...
6) 2 Fijians graduating from engineering school, loved my Fiji stories.
7) A redneck hunting guy in a little micro machine of a truck.
8) The infamous Dr. Hair- hair and scalp specialist (young boy lover)
9) Dairy farmer that has 5 farms
10) Rough dairy farming lady that had gotten up at 4 to milk the cows.
11) Every other word "fuck" girl- with her 2 yr. old kid next to her.
12) The infamous Swiss Miss
13) An American couple working in the Phillipines
14) A guy that does stucco for a living.
15) A Slaughterman that when asked how he kills the sheep, I asked is it with a stun gun, or bullett... he says, "No, I slit their throts and break 'em at the same time."
16) A Vegetarian
17) Matt- a carpenter
18) A strawberry farmer
19) Di- the breast cancer survivor
20) Random woman that had lived in Fiji
21) Deborah Still- went 3 1/2 hours out of her way to take me to Queenstown because she liked the music on my iPod.
22) Pete- Ex-truck driver was going to pick his son up for a weekend at home.
23) An older guy that loves Florida and told me about it for an hour and a half
24) Nick- young guy that took me to the farm party just out from Wanaka.
25) Scott- a guy who owns the Gondola in Queenstown
26) British Couple with friends in Boca. Didn't stop telling stories the entire ride.

29) Irish couple- took me to all of the glaciers then we had tea and cookies.
30) 2 Israeli girls- one was fat and the other was about 3 foot 5.
31) A dairy farming kid that taught me about pig hunting then dropped me off next to his farm in the most remote place I've ever been. There was an old guy on a little riding lawn mower that was mowing ACRES of land and would pass me where I was trying to hitch about every 15 minutes and just shake his head.
32) A father/son who were British, but I didn't understand 1 word they said.

Phew...what an adventure! I sure hope you found a Marcus or a tea and biscuits person for the last leg to Auckland rather than a Dr Hair, Slauterman ( yikes!!) or a gun enthusiast...hitching has given you many tales but is still scary:)

Yipes! The gunman sounds like he could be a Steve Buschemi look-alike from Con-Air w/ that crazy face that he does. Anyway, what an adventure. It doesn't sound like you're spending too much money, which is good. Hobbs is putting together a fantasy baseball league. You want in? It sounds like it's going to be a pretty healthy crew. See if you can hook back up with the 3'5'' chick. Does she have a flat head to place a beer on? Word.
