F$%^ing Renfe*

I think I may be slyly stealing this quote from someone else, but as it turns out, the whole "traveling" part of traveling is actually quite tiring.

After purchasing an heart-stoppingly expensive eurail pass, and with grand plans of backpacking through four different countries on a crazy culture-and-sun saturated trip, I have whole heartily failed. After spending much more than our allotted time in Spain, my traveling companion Callie and I decided to skip the countries of France and Italy due to the fact that to be in Greece in time to catch Callie's plane home, (despite my attempts to convince her that her work would understand that she had to spend a couple more weeks gallivanting around the Mediterranean, and if they didn't, work is really overrated anyways), we would only get to spend one non-travel day in each country. We felt that this might not adequately allow us to truly experience and enjoy each country, and thus decided to instead fly to Greece early and spend more time enjoying and learning about one place rather than skipping over a few. Therefore, we find ourselves in the small town of Benitses, south of Kerkyra on the island of Corfu, in Greece.

And I am so happy that we did decide to save the rest for another trip, because it's the first time in a long time that I have been able to leave my soap in the shower and not wonder if that fat guy who kept you up all night snoring will be sleeping in the bunk beneath me again, and not worry about waking up in time to catch my train, and additionally not waking up in time to catch my train with a headache. And finding out once you finally gather up all the items you can find on what littel sleep you did get, and finally navigate the metro system and find the train station, you manage to understand the guy behind the counter only enough to realize that the train you had planned to take- and the train the you had been planning everything else around- is all booked and the next one leaves in seven hours. Traveling if great- I just wish you could cut out all that pesky travel stuff inbetween. :)

The travelling part can be the hardest part but it is always the most adventurous as well. The journeys are the ones you relay to others when you get home, that and the people you meet, the rest just becomes a travel programme.

Glad you found paradise in Thailand. It is the next place on my list to visit. I think if you look hard enough, you find a little paradise in every country.
