You Just Quit?
Well, yes! We just quit!!
I’ve got to tell you, we were really nervous about quitting the jobs. As you might imagine, telling your boss that you’re done is not an action that is easily retractable. I talked myself in and out of making the dreaded phone call about ten times.
As with most worries in life, once they happen, they aren’t nearly as bad as you thought they’d be. This was definitely the case here. We were both thankful that our respective employers took the news well. Both companies said they were sad to see us go (certainly for Terra but I think my boss was just being nice) and wished us the best.
We wanted to say thanks to Matt, Helga, Karen, Matt and Sarah for the support. It really has made a big difference for us.
Counting down the days until departure. We leave next Tuesday night (18th).

Hey Guys:
I’m sorry I couldn’t make it to the “celebration” at Matt’s house. I wish you two the very best on your travels. This is a great way to keep in touch, I will check in regularly to make sure Terra isn’t getting sick of you!
Cheers!
Ron
I spent 14 months backpacking Asia, Africa, South America and Europe and it was fantastic. I had a much more aggressive travel schedule – I was set on seeing the entire world briefly, but I got to know places that I was able to return and spend focused vacations. My wife and I were married in Bali and have been back twice so that is a great start, and really close to Sulawesi to see the hanging coffins and Java to see the active volcanos. I would definitely add (here I go) India – the Taj remains a travel favorite, Nepal for a trek to see Everest up close, Bhutan to see the last unspoiled Himalayan kingdom, Papua New Guinea to see the last unspoiled island culture, Egypt, Kenya, Greece and most importantly Paris or Geneva to spend a week with Laura and me.
I’m just going to post tips as I find them….
If you and three friends together weigh more than 360kg, you get a free bottle of whisky at the Ichub Club (gotta love that name!), a fat-themed karaoke bar in Bangok. So look for some big ole boys and head over for free booze!
Terra and Scott:
Tomorrow will begin a great adventure for us all!! My kids are excited to visit the blog on a regular basis to hear of your travels. So, keep it clean Scott. I wish you both the best of luck.
