Some travel tips that work for me, they may or may not work for you.

Wrap your T.C., passport in a plastic bag when you put them in money belt, you never know when you might get wet, this will save important stuff.

Save the plastic bags you get when you buy things, you can use them to give your clothes for laundry.

Carry extra pairs of battery, particularly if you are going to hike at night or visit remote islands. Take couple of candles and matches with you. Do not take lighter, at high altitude the lighter fuels goes away in few days.

If you are going to Galapagos, Igazu falls or anywhere near water put your digital camera in plastic bag. On both these trips came across many people with wet camera.
