You´re forgiven

I´ve decided to forgive Argentina for all the footballing attrocities of the past because I have tasted my first Argentinian steak. I knew we were in for a treat when the cutlery in the restaurant resembled Rambo´s hunting knife and the centre of the restaurant was like a butchers shop. I ordered the most expensive steak on the menu (30 pesos – about five quid) and was served the hugest steak ever which was accompanied by two more steaks – delicious. We also discovered how to insult Argentinians; for a mild insult, ask for your steak well done (as per Dulcie), but to really annoy them, say you´re vegetarian.

Just how greedy can you get!!!

Glad you enjoyed your meal. I don’t know whether I would have enjoyed the surroundings, though!

*NEVER* tell an Argentinian chef that you’re vegetarian… where did you think your two extra steaks came from?

    🙂

Great to hear you have made it into Argentina in one piece – although it must be a frozen piece after your Chilean border crossing experience ! Nothing beats an Argentine steak that’s for sure – I am sure it is a delight to your taste buds after the ‘exotic’ cuisine you have had so far on your travels.
Dulcie – while in Argentina please look out for a handsome young guacho for this lonely single girl !

We all seem very jolly about the prospect of eating Argentine steak when it was only a few short years ago that we found ourselves short of corned beef supplies as a result of the glorious British victory during the Falklands war….

    Be careful out there…
