Hail, Nacho and Oaxaca

Day: 18
An uneventful travel day so a very short entry. We battled the Mexico City metro one more time. This time we brought weapons, our backpacks. The station for our bus to Oaxaca is only a few stops and one transfer away so we figure the metro is the cheap way to go.

As has been the case here we quickly buy tickets and less than 1 hour later are comfortably seated for the 6 hour trip to Oaxaca. Say it with me, wah-hah-kah. If you saw “Nacho Libre” and paid attention, this is where Nacho lived. Oh, and just in case you were wondering if some people are really named Nacho here, and I know some of you were. I was. We have now met a guy here who’s real name is Nacho.

About 3 hours into the trip the mountains grew higher and the valleys deeper. The best scenery we’ve seen to date, breathtaking stuff. After a very intense hail and rainstorm that had washed part of the road away we arrived in safely in Oaxaca. We found a hotel right in the centre of the city with a fabulous balcony and finished the night watching Erin Brockavich. Travel isn’t always exciting, but meeting a Nacho is.
