Easter Island (part 2)

Friday, February 9th, 2007

All of the moai on Easter Island were toppled by the 1800s and the ones that are now standing are restorations/resurrections.  They are huge – much bigger than expected – and it always surprised me how big they were whenever we walked up to a toppled or standing moai (and this is one of the smaller ones – a couple in the background are probably close to 10m tall).

Easter Island

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

After the disappointing stop over in Tahiti Easter Island´s sun came as a welcome change! The island is friendly and laid back and we love it! The moai (“heads”) are even more impressive in real life and it more than lives up to the photos that you see before you get here.
